Private Message to Narcissa Malfoy

Laugh all you wish. But if you've anything to suggest, I'd welcome it.

The flowers were sent. And the girl returned them.

Pennifold's just confirmed it.

Am I obliged to write an apology? Or may I ignore it?

Blast and damn. (And no, I'm not proposing to say either to the girl.)

I think you should consider yourself lucky she didn't throw herself on you. Perhaps she has more sense than I gave her credit.

Though, perhaps not.

I've been reading some of the students' journals, have you seen them? It certainly looks as though her reputation hasn't suffered in the slightest due to your, ah, interest.

Red, Barty? Truly? I know you don't bother with these distinctions generally but even you ought to know the difference between red and white. And I do not refer to the Wars of the Roses.

It's rare, darling, but you can be an idiot.

Oh, yes, it's certainly traditional.

For indicating to a lady that you've romantic intentions toward her!

I'm sending you a copy of Dorothea Whisp's A Wizard's Guide to Floral Etiquette. I'm surprised you hadn't seen it on your mother's shelf.

Rather makes me wonder about that bouquet you sent last year. Someone put thought into that arrangement, at least.
